Creating opportunities for dialogue

Through an active community engagement process, LNG Canada will seek input from First Nations communities, local residents, key stakeholders and others, to ensure opportunities, issues or concerns are being addressed in the planning for the LNG facility. The project is committed to supporting sustainable development, benefiting the communities in which it operates, and ensuring local residents, local companies and First Nations benefit from employment and economic development opportunities associated with the project.

LNG Canada recognizes its duty to consult with First Nations communities and intends to work with First Nations communities to develop a consultation approach based on mutual respect and understanding.

As well, community residents will have a number of ways to stay informed about the project and participate in the regulatory review process, including:

Toll free phone line: A toll free phone line 1-855-248-3631 is in place and project personnel will be available to talk with residents and address questions or concerns regarding the proposed project.

Community Meetings: Meetings with small groups of interested stakeholders will be organized throughout the regulatory review process so that organizations interested in the project have the information they need to understand it and comment on it.

Open Houses: At various stages throughout the regulatory review process, LNG Canada and/or the EAO will host Open Houses to provide community residents with the opportunity to learn more about the proposed project, speak with technical experts and comment on any opportunities and issues related to the project.

Community Newsletter: Sign up to receive a quarterly electronic newsletter that provides up-to-date information on the status of the proposed project as it progresses through the regulatory approval process.
